A good start...

It's been a week since my last blog entry so i thought that i better write suffen in the form of a quick update. Its always nice to get off to a good start at the beginning of the month, and even though im actually running a little below EV, i cant really complain:

Had a miniature downswing the other day, where i got off to a bad start with a couple of (perhaps in hindsight) ill-timed bluffs against fish who refuse to lay down top pair shit kicker, then after that just got coolered over and over for a bit, before jacking in for the day at -$1k, and entering the kitchen to wind down by way of cooking me and the missus a whole sea bass, freshly caught the night before by my fishing buddy Mark (cheers mate, owe you a few bottles of Newcastle Brown for that!). As you can see below, we rather enjoyed it, and it proved to be the perfect tonic for a bit of a bad day at the office...

Anyway, onwards and upwards, and by lunchtime the next day, I'd recovered my losses with a little extra on top, enough to allow me a well-earned weekend off :-)

Was gonna write a few words about the importance of getting off to a good start for the month, but then realised that its actually not that important. There are so many swings in a poker player's day/week/month/year that they/we become almost immune to them, and just carry on regardless. Having said that, i spose it does make it a bit easier to enjoy the weekend when you know that all is well so far, instead of the sub-conscious niggling that can happen when you are stuck 10+ buy-ins for your first week of the month.

I realise that this isnt the most inspiring piece of literary work known to man, and i will strive to make my posts a little more interesting as the month goes along, but i am still feeling a little delicate after last night (pub poker night - bombed out of the main event pretty early, but took down the side cash game to cover the nights expenses - must stop buying every man and his dog a drink after my 4th double??!!), so please forgive me. EN-GER-LAAAAAAND!
