Blog virgin, bear with me.

Ok, so since I've been perusing through the blogs of my fellow poker players, (some interesting, ie Wonga, Muzowne, Rhyme, James, Starchy. Some hellishly dull, ie nah, better not!) i figured I'd jump on the band wagon and start one up myself - who knows, it may do me some good? I wont babble too much in my first post - just a quick intro and little look back over my month so far...

2010 was my first full year as a full-time PKR cash player (with the odd MTT thrown in), starting off at NL100, where i fairly quickly (bout 3 months) got my roll to 5 figures, and subsequently moved up to NL200 - a level I've been doing pretty well at for just over a year now. I've taken shots at NL400-1000 with varying degrees of success, but in all honesty i realised that I'm just not ready to handle the swings that poker can hit you with at the higher stakes, especially after experiencing a horrible downswing at the end of last year where i was about $6k -EV in 1 month at NL200. I could not win a flip for the life of me, and was getting 2 outered left right and centre. Just one of those months where i couldn't win a hand no matter what i did. I was playing good, aggressive poker yet getting completely fleeced - no fun! (ok, I'll stop now, don't wanna sound like Mr Sudworth...). What I'm trying to say is, is that I'm happy at the level i play at right now, and can comfortably handle any potential shockers. I'm making a healthy profit and see no need to move up just yet. Even got nominated for PKR cash game player of the year, so must be doing something right...

So is a graph for my month thus far - pretty boring i know, and hardly any hands (could easily be another 10k hands on top of that by now), but I've just got back from a long stag weekend in Newquay, and I've been working hard on on my rehab after a climbing accident i had last month, trying to get fit for my football teams county cup final at Carrow Road (Norwich City's home ground - see all pics below).

Pretty low variance as you can see, and not a massive amount in terms of winnings/profit (yet! still a few days left...), but with rakeback on top (which will prob be around $6-700 this month) it will obviously suffice, as anything over $5k can never be called a 'bad month' at NL200, although it could always be better! Ive usually got some tournament winnings to add on top too,

but haven't played any at all this month, except for the PKR Masters, which i really shouldn't have played because i was still hungover and tired from the Friday night, but did and busted early.

So anyway, Newquay, top weekend...

Fingers crossed to James and Sam, who are getting married in Cyprus - hope the volcano dust clears! Oh, and before i forget, I do have a little video from the weekend to include too, although not sure if it breaches any laws - I'll try it anyway...hope it doesn't offend anybody, its just a bit of fun!

So many belly busting moments from a truly memorable weekend - nice one lads, absolutely loved it.

Anyway, here are a few pics from what was left of that tree i was telling you about, after it decided to split out on me whilst i was in it :-)

What made it worse is that when the top split out (the section on the deck on the right hand picture), it caught my chainsaw and ripped it from my harness, plunging it into that stagnant shitty river. Luckily i wasn't the one who had to don the waders and get in there for nearly an hour trying to find it! Eventually we did find it, and unbelievably, after taking the spark plug out and emptying it of a fair amount of water, it started first time after leaving it to dry out for about an hour - result - £1000 saved!

On the down side, the whiplash type injury, and bang on my knee (that I've had surgery on before) that i suffered when the 4 tonne lump of willow ripped me out of the tree at warp speed, meant that i had to miss 3 cup finals with my team Reffley Royals, including the county cup final at Carrow Road :-( although i did manage to get my kit on (see below right) and have a kick about on the absolutely lush pitch during our warm up and at half time with the subs. We lost 2-1 to Norwich University, but was a great match and we will be back next year!

Its been a great year with the Royals, we won the league, the league cup and another cup to complete an historic treble, and it would have been an amazing achievement to do the quadruple (!), but alas, as our chief supporter (Denny Back, legend) told us after we were all devastated after losing at Carrow Road to a bunch of soap/tax dodgers, 6 games in 16 days proved to be too much for us, despite having such a strong squad. Anyway, up the Royals!

Got a 50k hand review coming up soon so will post a graph or two, along with some stats from HEM in my next post.
